There are differences and nuances related to the way we act, with our home, with our way of understanding life and our personal tastes, which make a blender or juicer better for our house.

Blender or juicer serve, at its base, for the same: convert solid foods into liquids. And above all they can be used to introduce fruits and vegetables into your life, which you always say you are going to do but that in the end you always leave for tomorrow because the hamburger or pizza are very rich. Or not?

Although it seems the same, liquefying and squeezing is not the same. We turn to the Dictionary of the Royal Academy of Language to observe the first difference in its own meaning:

Liquefy is ‘Make a solid substance liquid’

Squeezing is ‘Extracting the juice or liquid from a thing, squeezing it or twisting it’.

That is, when you use a blender you turn the whole element into something liquid. While when you squeeze, what you do is extract the liquid that product contains inside.

Blender vs juicer
  • You take the whole product.
  • Mix and maintain all the ingredients you want to include.
  • Ideal for milkshakes, purees and to include all kinds of fresh food or not.
  • They include fiber, so necessary and positive for our digestive system.
  • They provide a ration of vitamins and minerals in a simple way.
  • You can play with larger size and variety of products.
  • There are blenders that have filters to separate the juice from the seeds and pulp.
  • Some allow you to prepare hot and even cold pressed drinks.

Blender or juicer
  • You directly drink the liquid extracted from the product.
  • They are faster tools of action.
  • They are also cleaner at the time of use and for later storage.
  • We all relate the juicer with the orange juice. Taking one each morning provides vitamin C, highly recommended to avoid winter constipation.
  • They do not include the pulp in the liquid to drink. There are those who do not like to find pieces when drinking. That pulp, which is very rich in fiber, can be reused to accompany other dishes.
  • The body directly and quickly absorbs the liquid and is an easy energy assimilation.
  • They do not include food fiber.
  • Healthier diet thanks to having a blender or juicer
  • There are different visions within the world of food about which apparatus is better in terms of healthy living.

There are those who choose because it is more nutritious to eat all the nutrients in the product and also the food fiber. This is more resistant to the digestive process and absorption of the small intestine, so it ends up fermenting in the bulk. This entails a somewhat heavier digestion.

And on the other hand, some people think that it is best for the body to absorb the pure juice, freshly extracted from fresh products, much more digestive and easily assimilated by our body. If you are a difficult digestion or have stomach problems, juicers limit the consumption of fiber that has a longer digestion process.

What we must be clear in either case is that we talk about a very healthy diet because we talk about fruits and vegetables with all their vitamins and minerals that are going to stay in our body in one way or another.

How does a blender and a juicer work?

The main difference between blenders and juicers is that the blenders work by centrifugation from the use, mainly, of rotating blades necessary to crush the solid elements of the products.

Of course, not all blenders need blades to achieve the same goal, as we already told you in this article about cold pressed juice.

Most have jugs suitable for dishwasher cleaning and the blades are removable so that everything is more hygienic.

For its part, the design of a juicer is based on the pressure extraction of the liquid that is inside the food.

There are different types of juicers, from the most common that we all know, which acts mainly by pressure on citrus fruits, to centrifuges, which act as graters of fruits and vegetables. Then we have the most powerful, known as chewers that compress the product to the maximum and practically leave it dry.

Different uses

You could say that a blender is a more multipurpose tool for all the multiple options and configurations it offers to achieve different levels of mixtures.

The function of a juicer is more direct and the sole and final objective is to separate the liquid from the food to be treated, leaving aside elements such as fiber.

If what you want is a juice, plain and simple, don’t eat your head anymore. Your device is the juicer.

If your intention is to get something more than to extract the liquid, a blender would help you mix it with the fiber, the membrane and the skin, with all that these parts of a product contain. Even if you’re looking to crush or grind dry food or even ice.

But you should look carefully at the specifications of the tool you decide to buy because some blenders are not suitable for products with a certain hardness such as some nuts.

The truth is that in this comparison between blenders or juicer there is no winner. You decide what can be better for you. Even if you have enough space in your kitchen, both of them can be good for you because each machine can be used differently.

What is certain is that if you introduce any of these devices into your daily life and in your usual cooking mode, you are introducing fruits and vegetables into your diet. And just for that you will have a healthier life.
